Towcestrians RFC kicked off their new season with a long road trip to Wareham to face the newly promoted seasiders.

Tows soon put their stamp on the game with last season’s player of the year, Pepe Nanci, breaking to put in winger Alex Chalcraft for the first try, Scott Browne converting on his return to the Tows , this was quickly followed by Adam Wilkinson on the other wing scoring and Browne again converting for a 14 – 0 lead.

The home side looked powerful in the scrum and gave Tows some concern but with the Tows backs looking threatening with ball in hand, a quick turnover for Tows and one pass saw Chalcraft in for his second of the day, Swanage responded after pressuring the Tows line, after Tows conceded a penalty the home took the option to kick get on the scoreboard.

A Calum Threlfall yellow card didn’t prevent the Tows line out drive giving Skipper Zac Osborne his second try in 2 weeks, Tows ending the half 26 – 3 ahead.

The second half continued in the same vein with Liam Wilkinson scoring after the home side misjudged their own line out and straight from the kick off good hands gave Chrissie George a try, a Ben Roe break put in debutant James Hales for a score with Calum Jones adding a 5 pointer and a Hat trick try to round off the scoring from Chalcraft saw Tows ease to a bonus point win, Final score Swanage and Wareham 3 – Towcestrians 59
