A trip to Peterborough awaited Towcestrians this weekend as they looked to pick up their first win in a month. The hosts were also struggling for form after winning one of their first six games.

It was Tows who got the first points of the game, Harry Knibbs, who found himself on the wing, scored his first of the season. The conversion was missed.

Peterborough replied moments later with a penalty and after Matt Yuill prevented a break away try with an excellent tackle, Borough’s pressure took its tole as their winger crossed. The home side were now in the lead and on front foot.

Struggling to retain the ball at the breakdown Tows then conceded a further two tries to give the hosts a comfortable 22 – 5 lead going into the break.

The second half started well for Towcester, great hands from the backs allowed Matt Yuill to cross for a converted try.

It looked as though the tables were turning after some brilliant phase play from Tows, but Borough came roaring back with a soft try from their fullback who followed his own kick to score.

Tows then began the fight back, pace from winger Cam Young driving the visitors forward. Young did well to step away from the defender and score in the corner. Roe slotted the difficult touchline conversion.

After some stout defending on their line Tows managed to find a gap, Ben Roe exploiting the whole and scoring under the posts for the vital bonus point try.

The heroic come back was not to be completed as a great defensive effort from Borough was rewarded by possession of the ball and the win.
Tows took home a four try and losing bonus point but their search for an elusive win continues.
