The game started nervously for Bosworth as Tows looked in control in the opening exchanges. The Tows efforts looked to be rewarded with a try however failure to finish and wrong options taken lead to the home side, roared on by their VP crowd getting back into the game. Bosworth’s number 8 crashed over from the back of the scrum for a converted try to open the scoring.
Tows then took the game to the home side using a line out to release Ben Roe who combined with Chrissie George, who scored. The try was converted by James Falvey.
Bosworth looked to be in for their second as they caught Tows napping from a twenty two drop out, Falvey had other ideas as he succoured the ball and broke through the mid field to put Fullback Matt Yuill in. Falvey’s conversion then giving Tows a 7-14 lead going into half time.
After the break Tows’ performance hindered slightly as it looked as though they had one eye on Wednesday night’s Alliance Cup Final. They conceded a sloppy penalty then an intercepted pass was thrown to see Bosworth take the lead by one point.
Always looking capable, but making hard work against the spirited Bosworth side, Tows went ahead through a try from scrum half Ronnie Speakman out pacing the Bosworth defence from a scrum at half way.
Bosworth then in their best period of the game came back strongly; a try from their influential open side lifted the efforts of his team. Bosworth then came back again at Tows, this time through the forwards. A pick and drive try putting the home side ahead 25-21.
It was then up to Tows to find a win for themselves, the Tows forwards took their final chance to score through a lineout drive. Yuon Skelton claimed the try and Ben Roes conversion secured the Tows win over a Bosworth who fought so well.
