It was a bad start for Tows as they failed to win the ball from their own line out, allowing the fired up home pack to roar over the line to the delighted of the home support.
Ben Roe, who had taken over with the kicking duties in place of injured James Falvey, started well, slotting a penalty from the 10 yard line.
Chippenham’s dominance in the pack was beginning to show, as countless set pieces were going their way. The home scrum half darted over from a scrum for a try which was converted.
Tows’ defence however was the only thing stopping the home side from running away with the game. A huge Ben Roe penalty from inside his own half gave Tows a fighting chance, this was followed by a third penalty bringing the score to 14 – 9.
This was only to be drowned out by a try from the Chippenham outside centre, which came from more pressure from the colossus forwards pack.
Whatever was said at half time seemed to come into immediate effect, winger Pepe Nanci running in for Roe to convert.
The realization that the visitors had more pace outside turned the game on its head for Tows, as they now ran the ball at an aghast Chippenham side.
Second row Kieran Frost brushed off incalculable tacklers to break clear and offload to Mark Yeates who scored, Ben Roe was denied the opportunity to put them ahead as he hit the post with the conversion attempt. Only to slot a penalty later on.
The unbeaten home side were down to fourteen men as their full back was yellow carded, therefore reverted to their forward game, who bustled over from a driving line out. Minutes later the forward were used again to create pressure and space for their winger to dot down, Ending Tows’ valiant fight back.
